On this day in history: January 19th… Today we say Happy Birthday to the underpants known as briefs. Yes, at one time men who didn’t want to go commando had only boxer shorts or long johns to wear under their pants but then, along came briefs, also known as jockey shorts or tighty-whiteys.
The underwear we know and love as briefs we first sold on January 19th of what year?
Briefs were first sold by Coopers, Inc., in Chicago, Illinois on January 19, 1935. They dubbed the new undergarment the “Jockey” because it offered a similar degree of support as the jockstrap. Thirty-thousand pairs were sold within three months of their introduction.
Today, we had 32 people check into the Net and 6 of those got the correct answer to the Trivia Question. Congratulations to:
- John — KD6JEV
- Jerry — KD6JPD

- Murray — WA6USL
Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun.
