QUESTION:

I am going to lay out a row of pennies one mile long. How many pennies will I need?

ANSWER:

84,480

EXPLANATION:

Watch out. Here’s where math comes in:

A penny is 0.75 inches in diameter.

A mile is 5280 feet or 63,360 inches.

63,360 divided by 0.75 = 84,480 pennies to the mile.

By the way, that would be over 422 pounds of pennies. Can I get some help carrying those?
